There are many ways you can get involved in helping the most vulnerable people group in our community!
With various commitments, from part-time staff to full-time staff or counselor, your contribution is valuable and beneficial to our team.

All full-time and most part-time positions require the full application process.
(application with references, panel interview, Level 4 Background check and 2 mandatory training sessions)

Below you will find explanations of the positions available.

 

Counselor

Full Time Position

The counselor is tasked with guiding their campers throughout each day - enjoying the events & activities alongside them. They are on the front lines when it comes to confronting the consequences of abuse. For every selfless individual who commits to the week of camp as counselor, 2 campers are able to attend. With a camper to counselor ratio of 2:1, counselors are able to better focus on creating positive memories for and with their campers: ensuring each child feels safe and valued during their week at camp.

Teen Staff

Full Time Position, separate application process

Junior staff are youths ages 16 & 17, who are mature, responsible and flexible. They will be utilized in various capacities - from running supplies between stations, to filling in on the drama team, or jumping in at a rowdy table when the energy of the adult staff is running low. Our junior staff are appreciated and encouraged to join the team as they are essential for keeping the flow of camp smooth and effective.

Camp Nurses (RN)

Full Time Position

MUST be a Registered Nurse (RN). We are seeking 2. Together they will be responsible for managing the health and well-being of all campers and staff at camp. This includes administering first aid, handling minor injuries and illnesses, and overseeing any medications that need to be administered. Nurses will also monitor and maintain health records, communicate with parents about health concerns, and ensure that the camp follows all medical and safety protocols. In addition, the nurse will provide health education to campers and staff, assist in emergency situations, and work closely with camp leadership to ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone.

Lifeguard

Part-time position, full application process

.The RFK Camp Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers in and around the water. This includes monitoring swimming activities, enforcing safety rules, and providing immediate assistance in case of an emergency. The lifeguard will lead safety briefings with campers and counselors and maintain a clean and safe environment at the pool. Additionally, they will be trained in CPR, first aid, and water rescue techniques, and will work closely with camp staff to promote a fun and secure experience for all participants.

Coach & Assistant

Full-time position

Our Coach is a fun role which includes planning, organizing, and overseeing all “sports” and recreational activities on the field, for OUR campers. Coach will lead us in our daily “Good Morning Jesus” shout and get-your-body-moving exercises. Coach must create a fun and safe environment for campers of various age groups and skill levels, equipping each one with the confidence to participate.

Activities Team

Full-time position

The Activities Team is tasked with developing interesting and creative activities that emphasize process not product and should be related to the theme of camp. Activities Team will gather supplies, prepare activity centers and organize campers’ creations, preparing them for easy disbursement on the final day of camp. Activities team should keep morale high, encouraging campers and counselors as they work at their centers and hosting with a servant heart.

Photography Team

Full-time position

Camp photographer has the only position at camp, who may use a camera. They are tasked with documenting our fun-filled week at camp, attending events and activities with the intent to capture special moments. The photography team will use those photos to assemble a photo album for each camper to take home. They will also put together several small slideshows documenting each day, culminating in one large show to be viewed at our Welcome Home Banquet on Sunday evening.

Media Team

Full-time position

The show can not go on without a media team!

These servant hearts will use their time at camp to provide audio/video and possible lighting for our camp’s small events. The media team will be expected to keep up with the Breakfast Club, Chapel, and Drama teams and Director Emcees, coordinating for synchrony of music, curriculum and bible stories. The media team will also DJ the birthday party and coordinate with campers for the variety show.

Woodworking Team

Part-time position, full application process

Right on with the theme of camp this year, Under Construction: Following New Blueprints, the Woodworking team uses woodworking projects to reinforce the values of skill, labor, patience and process. Giving our campers something sturdy, long lasting and custom - created with cooperation from a healthy adult, the lessons learned are sure to impact a child’s life longer than the actual project itself.

Grandparents

Full-time position

Grandparents at camp bring the dimension of extended family! They give safe hugs, speak encouragement, read stories and have a special “cookie hour” with the campers. Grandparents assist in sorting camper mail, serving afternoon snack and Bible Story time.

Aunts/Uncles

Full-time position

Aunts and Uncles also bring the dimension of extended family to the camp! They tell stories, give safe hugs, help where needed. Aunties will have a sp night with female campers and are tasked with creating a special invitation for the occasion. Uncles will have a nerf night!

Aunts and Uncles are expected to cannon ball when invited, zip line if challenged, etc...

Royal Treatment Team

Full-time position

Royal Family KIDS believes in treating everyone royally. The person(s) in this position will plan and provide treats and encouragements to all of our volunteers throughout the week. Recognizing that the week will be physically challenging and emotionally challenging, our camp staff deserve to be nourished, nurtured and celebrated. The Royal Treatment Team will continue to keep in touch with our volunteers throughout the year - sending birthday cards and keeping tabs on other major milestones to be celebrated throughout the year.

Bible Story Teacher & Assistant

Full-time position

Using the curriculum provided, the Bible Story Team will find fun and engaging ways to introduce the Word of God to life, for our camp kiddos. With props, sets and costumes, the Bible Story Team will review and apply the daily lessons at Chapel time, utilizing their unique opportunity to tell the camp about Jesus. For some of our camp kids, this will be the first time they hear the name of Jesus.

Breakfast Club Team

Full-time position

Breakfast Club is our daily dose of SILLY! With wild games, fun music and interactive entertainment, the BC hour provides counselors with a much needed break, while engaging campers in the wiggly and wobbly ways that they need at the just-before-dinner-time. Before camp, BC will receive and review curriculum, gathering supplies and equipment, props and gadgets. They also gather and give prizes!!!

Drama Team

Full-time position

Utilizing the RFK Inc. curriculum, the drama team will perform a week long skit; written to match the Under Construction: Following New Blueprints theme, and reinforcing the ideas, verses and lessons taught through Bible Story and Breakfast Club throughout the week. The drama team is responsible for creating sets, costumes and props and is expected to meet in the weeks before camp for rehearsals.

Registration/Release Team

At home team, abbrv. application process

You can be one of our welcoming faces as we bring in our campers and their guardians on Wednesday morning. Because this can be a stressful time for campers and their guardians as they say goodbye for a week, we want campers and foster families to be sure that they have been thoroughly considered and will be well taken care of. The Registration Team will orchestrate a series of stations of check-in, ensuring that safety is number one.

The registration and release team DOES NOT come to camp.

Birthday Party Team

Part-time position, abbrv. application process

At Royal Family KIDS, we know the sad reality that some of our campers face, like forgotten milestones and skipped holidays. In order to make a memory of celebration and bring to reality, the message of Ephesians 2:10 that they are “created on purpose for a purpose”, RFK celebrates each camper with a Birthday Party for everyone! Midweek, the Birthday Party team will come up to camp and throw a party for our 40 campers, complete with cupcakes, gifts and guests! Before camp, the birthday party team will work with local vendors and businesses to secure inflatables and extra goods for the day, making sure to put together an exciting celebration!

Welcome Home Banquet Team

At home team, no application process

Following an emotionally and physically draining week, Royal Family KIDS likes to close the camp experience with one of peace, unity and gratitude. After our campers are reunited with their foster families, our camp heroes are treated to one final dinner, at a table absent of children, surrounded by the camp team and their plus ones. The Welcome Banquet Team is charged with executing that semi-formal dinner for the team. They will contact local caterers, secure place settings and centerpieces, purchase service and silverware, etc. A budget is provided.
